Another one on the "Don’t Miss . . . list." Disney's Animal Kingdom® is part adventure playground and part safari park, with a wealth of wildlife and abundant and glorious flora and fauna. Like Magic Kingdom, there is a central focal point - in this case Discovery Island with its giant Tree of Life standing 14 stories high. From here, pathways radiate out to distinct areas to explore and enjoy.

Not to be missed

There are plenty of gifts and souvenirs for the folks back home, and food stops to keep up energy levels while you enjoy rides, treks, safaris and expeditions. But the real stars here are the animals - 1700 of them, representing 250 different species, and all in lush settings with luxuriant foliage and streams and waterfalls.

Pick up a Times Guide (available in the park) and get the up-to-the-minute schedule for the various displays and close encounters of the animal kind. Fastpasses are available to speed things up and help avoid the snarl-ups, and although the park is one of the largest, much of the space is reserved for animal enclosures, so you should be able to see everything in a day.

And if you are feeling a trifle jaded by the end of your visit, it’s worth spending a little time in the Oasis area before you leave the park. Stroll along meandering pathways, and you will find hidden grottos, cooling streams and waterfalls, with fragrant trees and flowers to relax and rejuvenate.
